KAF 2017 - tickets and programme now live!

Posted on:Aug 3, 2017

We can already smell that fresh aroma of newly printed ink on paper – the KAF 2017 brochures are about to go to print, and we’ve just posted all our events up on the website and tickets are now available to book! Things are starting to get exciting now!

For those of you unfamiliar with Kidderminster Arts Festival, we are now in our 14th year of providing the town with arts and entertainment for three weeks during August. In the past the festival has seen street theatre, dance, comedy, live music, record fairs, outdoor collaborative painting events and more! This year is no different, but we have a new focus: accessibility and inclusivity for all. We want the arts festival to be a celebration and an exchange of positivity between absolutely everyone in our community.

That’s why we have programmed not only a day for the kids, (besides some other wonderful ticketed events for families and youngsters) but also another entire day of events which are designed for, and often performed by artists and actors with disabilities and/or neuroaffective conditions, which I hasten to add are often seen more as abilities than disabilities!

Pin Curl Dyesome 13 Of 13

This is Hijinx - a theatre company from Cardiff - performing their piece 'Pin, Curl & Dyesome', which will be coming to KAF on 26th August. They are an inclusive theatre group, featuring a variety of performers both with and without learning difficulties.

 Sprung Portrait August 2016

And this is the fantastic performance group Kazzum, who are bringing their show 'Sprung' to KAF, also on 26th August. It's a really beautiful piece that frames diversity and disability in a new and positive light - wonderful for our young audiences to experience this.

Practical physical access has been well thought out, as has the cost – all events that are part of our Summer Street Saturdays (12th, 17th and 26th August) are free! Have a look at the online programme and get your diaries out.

KAF is an arts festival for the community, so it would amazing to get to know as many of you out there as possible and hear about all the sorts of activities and projects you get up to and what you want to see at KAF and in the local arts community in general. Wyre Forest Arts are here to support the local art scene, so do tag and follow our facebook page or twitter account if you have something to share, and we’ll share it too.We share and post lots of local arts news, jobs and opportunities on these pages so do follow us.
